Veteran actor Sivakumar and his sons Suriya and Karthi have donated a good amount of Rs. 1 crore to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Yesterday, the actor along with his two sons met MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu at his office to ensure people get their needs fulfilled in these hard times.
On May 11, Chief Minister MK Stalin appealed and encouraged the people of the state to contribute as much as possible to the CM's relief fund to combat the novel coronavirus pandemic. While addressing the people, Stalin said that the state is in dire need of financial support during this crisis. He assured the people that the money donated to CMPRF will be going into the right hands and will be used for increasing oxygen beds in hospitals, medicines, production of oxygen, infrastructure development of hospitals, purchasing vaccines, and for other medical expenses.
On donating the money, Sivakumar said that it is the need of the hour to protect the people from Covid-19 and he has contributed a small sum from his side. He further encouraged everyone and asked the people of his state to come forward to do their own bit in combating the virus.
On meeting MK Stalin, Sivakumar said he has met his father (M Karunanidhi) for 30-40 years and to meet his political heir in office for the first time was a pleasure for him. He also expressed that he wants the Tamil speaking/reading youth to get job opportunities within Tamil Nadu and wants it to be the first thing that needs to be done.
